Catching Up with K-Pop: The Boy Band Edition
I’ve been away from the K-pop scene for a while. I don’t even know some of these bands anymore and I didn’t know where to start. The best plan of action was to go to a list of recent releases and see which bands I didn’t know. Well, I’ve been quite out of the loop. These are some of the male idol groups I’ve never heard of.
NU’EST (뉴이스트)
Just by reading the description of the band, I knew what to expect. They’ve labeled themselves with the genre “Urban Electro” so I was expecting a heavy, electronic beat when I found their song “FACE.” I was right. What I was expecting more of was color. The beat is heavy but the tone of the song felt like it needed a little something else. Great debut for a new band.
